Bruce Peninsula – A Mountain is a Mouth

Bruce Peninsula

A Mountain is a Mouth

self-released

Any music act with more than five members is automatically deemed a collective, so let’s label this Toronto act as such. Vocal harmonies, pounding percussion, and varied instrumentation allow them to carry paradoxical grandiose intimacy that few acts (such as The Arcade Fire) can pull off. Gravely male or female lead vocal calls have a choir harmony response across chain-gang singalongs, secular gospel-like anthems, and old blues, all joined by a post-rock glue. Think The Polyphonic Spree without the happy-go-lucky creeper pop cult vibe.
